A Christian Science Reading Room is a resource for the whole community.

It is a place to find out about the healing work demonstrated by Christ Jesus and explained by Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

It is a peaceful place to come read, study and pray independently.

It is a library for self-directed Bible study and research, and is also a place you may buy the Holy Bible, Bible reference books and Bible stories for children.

Our Reading Room is located in downtown Mount Vernon at 321 West Kincaid Street. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and occasionally Saturday  from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.,  Our phone number is (360) 336-2382. Please call ahead to be certain the hours are correct for any given week.

In the Reading Room you will find Bible study reference books, periodicals which explain the healing practice of Christian Science, weekly Bible lessons, biographies of Mary Baker Eddy, inspirational recordings and so much more.

Visitors often read the award-winning newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, use our databases for further spiritual study, and go on-line for other materials about the power and presence of God in our daily lives.

Many books, periodicals and other media are available for sale (to keep or to give as gifts), to borrow from our lending library, or to sit quietly and read. Please visit to explore a variety of on-line resources for spiritual study and for information about Christian Science. Also, you are welcome to come into the Reading Room to browse, read and stay awhile.
