For some inspiring thoughts listen to the Daily Lift shared by spiritual thinkers from all over the world.

On Sunday morning we listen to scriptural readings from the Bible and from our text book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, sing hymns and pray silently.

Our Sunday School is for young people up to the age of 20, and is held at the same time as our Sunday services.

Every Wednesday evening, we have testimony meetings. Following readings from the Bible and Science and Health, those attending share testimonies of healing and remarks on Christian Science.

Child care is lovingly provided at all our services. Please come visit us, we would love to meet you.

This church is among approximately 2,000 branch churches of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, which was established by Mary Baker Eddy when she discovered and endeavored to preserve and extend this Bible-based system of healing through prayer.

Here’s a bit of history about our church:
Our church has been in Mount Vernon for over 100 years.  From 1906-1908  early Christian Scientists of Mount Vernon met in homes to conduct their services. By 1909 larger quarters were required and services began at the Odd Fellows Hall.

In 1912 a member donated a building site as an expression of gratitude for the the healing of his wife. In April of 1913 the Mount Vernon group of Christian Scientists became formally recognized as a Christian Science Society.

In 1950 a meeting of the membership was held to consider an attractive offer from the adjoining Salem Lutheran Church to buy the church property. The purchase of a lot on 6th and Cedar Streets was accomplished in April of 1950. The dedication took place on December 9, 1951, and we are still housed at this location.

More information about Christian Science can be found in the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. This groundbreaking textbook has brought inspiration and healing to millions of people around the world.
